Welcome to Sudoku Daily — the free, ad-supported Sudoku experience built for players who want a genuinely fresh challenge every morning.
Sudoku is a number-placement logic puzzle published in newspapers and apps worldwide. The objective is simple: fill a 9×9 grid so that every row, every column, and every 3×3 box contains the digits 1 through 9 exactly once. No mathematics is involved — only deductive reasoning.
Easy puzzles (36–40 given clues) can usually be solved with naked singles: cells where only one digit fits. They are ideal for new players or a quick 5-minute break.
Medium puzzles (28–35 clues) require spotting hidden singles — numbers that can only go in one place within a row or box even when other candidates exist. Most players finish in 8–15 minutes.
Hard puzzles (22–27 clues) demand naked pairs, pointing pairs, and box-line reductions. A typical solve takes 15–40 minutes.
Evil puzzles (17–21 clues) are near the theoretical minimum of 17 clues needed for a unique solution. They require X-Wing, Swordfish, and advanced coloring techniques. Even experienced players may need 60+ minutes.
Every day at midnight UTC, a new seed generates today's puzzle — identical for every player worldwide, so you can compare times with friends. Solve the daily puzzle to extend your streak counter. Missing a day resets it to 1.
Toggle pencil mode with the ✎ button (or press P) to jot candidate numbers in cells. Auto-candidate mode computes all legal candidates instantly using constraint elimination.
Stuck? Three free hints per day reveal a single safe cell. Need more? Watch a short rewarded ad to unlock one extra hint. Hints always use the easiest available deduction first (naked single → hidden single → random cell from solution).
No account required. All progress, streaks, and best times are stored in your browser's localStorage under versioned keys. Clearing browser data resets your stats.
Sudoku Daily keeps a complete record of how you play. For every difficulty — Easy, Medium, Hard and Evil — you will see puzzles solved, your win rate, your best time and your average time, plus the number of flawless games you finished without a single mistake and your total time at the board. A monthly streak calendar marks each day you completed the daily puzzle, so building a long solving streak becomes as satisfying as the puzzles themselves. Everything is stored privately in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Most apps just hand you the answer. The Sudoku Coach instead reads your current board and explains the next logical step the way a teacher would. The free Coach walks you through the two foundational techniques — the naked single (a cell with only one possible digit) and the hidden single (a digit that fits only one cell in a row, column or box). Pro adds the intermediate techniques that unlock Hard and Evil grids: pointing pairs, naked pairs and box-line reductions. Because Coach highlights the cells and asks you to place the number yourself, you build real solving skill instead of leaning on auto-fill.
Prefer pencil and paper? Sudoku Daily Pro prints a clean copy of the current puzzle with its answer key, or generates a brand-new printable six-puzzle pack spanning every difficulty. It is perfect for road trips, classrooms, waiting rooms, or anyone who simply solves better away from a screen. Use your browser’s “Save as PDF” option to archive packs and build your own puzzle book.

Mathematical research has confirmed that any uniquely-solvable Sudoku requires at least 17 given clues. Our Evil difficulty uses 17–21 clues, the hardest range possible while guaranteeing a unique solution.
Pencil marks let you record candidate digits in a cell — the numbers you think might belong there. Toggle pencil mode with the pencil icon or press P. Auto-candidate mode fills in all legal candidates automatically based on current board state.
You earn a streak point for each calendar day (UTC) on which you complete the daily puzzle. Missing any day resets your current streak to 1. Your all-time best streak is always preserved.
